Software that holds.
We engineer systems that organisations depend on for years — designed before they are built, documented as they are built, and handed over so the people who inherit them can carry them forward.

Engineering, end to end
Writing code is the smallest part of building software that lasts. The rest is engineering: understanding, architecture, standards, validation and record-keeping.
Every system we build begins with a written design and ends with a governed handover. In between, small senior teams deliver working software in short cycles, with the decisions documented as they are made — not reconstructed afterwards.
We do not staff projects with layers of juniors and a distant architect. The people who design the system build it, and the people who build it answer for it.
What we build
Systems of record
The software an organisation cannot afford to get wrong — case management, operations, registries — built for correctness, auditability and long service.
Platforms and services
Foundations other teams build on: APIs, integration layers and shared services with boundaries designed to survive change.
Modernised legacy systems
Careful, evidence-led replacement of systems that matter — without the big-bang rewrite that puts the business at risk.
Digital products
Products for customers and staff, engineered with the same discipline as the systems behind them.
How we engineer
The practices below are not aspirations. They are how every Arqentek system is built, and they are visible in the record we hand over.
Design precedes code.
Architecture, boundaries and standards are agreed in writing before implementation begins — so the code has something to be correct against.
Small teams, senior hands.
A few experienced engineers who understand the whole system, rather than many hands who each understand a fragment.
Working software, short cycles.
Progress is measured in running systems, demonstrated frequently — not in status reports.
Quality is designed in.
Automated tests, reviews and security checks are part of the definition of done from the first day, not a phase at the end.
Decisions are recorded as they are made.
Architecture decision records, standards and the decision log ship with every release — the reasoning stays with the system.
Built to be operated.
Monitoring, runbooks and recovery are engineering deliverables. A system is not finished until it can be run without its builders.
Assurance you can read
Every claim we make about quality is written down and checkable.
Code is reviewed in writing against the engineering standard agreed at the start. Validation records show that what was built matches what was decided — tests passing, coverage thresholds met, security scans clean, benchmarks held. When a decision changes mid-delivery, the record changes with it, and the old decision stays visible, struck through, with the reasoning that replaced it.
The result is a system a regulator, an auditor or a new engineering team can examine without needing us in the room.

Yours from the first commit
The repository is yours. The documentation is yours. The decisions, standards and validation records are yours. We build in your environment, under your ownership, so handover is a milestone — not a negotiation.
A system is finished when your team can change it with confidence.
It begins with a conversation.
Bring us the system you need — or the one you need rescued. We will tell you honestly whether we can help, and what it will take, before any engagement begins.
